In the summer months you'll find visitors and locals alike taking advantage of the expansive sandy beaches, enjoying the water on a boat, kayaking, or hiking. A popular past time is getting ice cream and walking the boardwalk along the channel from downtown Grand Haven to the beach and pier. Grand Haven also throws a yearly festival called "Coast Guard Festival" that draws in people from all around the country. With Coast Guard ships open to the public, a carnival, parades and more, Coast Guard Festival is a summer staple. In the winter months you can find people skiing at Mulligan's Hollow, ice fishing, skating, sledding, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and more!

Grand Haven is also home to a number of amazing restaurants and breweries! You'll often find locals and visitors alike at places like The Kirby House, Morning Star Cafe, The Paisley Pig Gastropub, Oddside Ales, Grand Armory Brewing, and Dr. Rolf's Barbeque to name a few popular places to eat.

Education in Grand Haven

Grand Haven schools are known to be some of the best in West Michigan, resulting in continuing awards and satisfied students and parents. There are 13 schools total inside the district - elementary though high school. There are no colleges in Grand Haven, however schools like Hope College, Grand Valley State University and Calvin University are all close by!
